Top Hot Spring Resorts to visit in Colorado

Top Hot Spring Resorts to Visit in Colorado

There are so many hot Spring resorts to visit in Colorado so I’m here to help you narrow down the list! There is no doubt hot springs are a winter must! It’s the perfect way to end a ski trip, or to just unwind after a long week. These locations are Hot Springs resorts, meaning you don’t have to hike to them, but you do have to pay a fee to enter. Many of these resorts also offer lodging options, which will include a pass to use the hot springs during your stay. These make for perfect romantic weekend getaways, or a family vacation.

Hot Spring Resorts in Buena Vista: Mount Princeton Resort

This resort is located near Buena Vista, Colorado and open all year long. However, with each season comes different perks. The creek side hot springs (my favorite), may close in late spring, so I’d suggest going in the winter when they are open. However the water slide is open Memorial day to Labor day. There is a total of 4 springs/pools available. When I traveled here I did stay the night at the resort and took advantage of private hot spring rental. I’ve also stayed at this cabin nearby as well which was great for a large group. There is a fee to enter, rent towels, lockers, etc. You can find out more by visiting their website.

Hot Spring Resorts in Steamboat: Strawberry Hot Springs

Due to recent changes, you have to make a reservation at the Hot Springs online and the max per party is 6. I suggest following them on Twitter as they release booking dates there so you can be the first to snag an opening. If you do not find a reservation for the specific party/date you’re looking for, try making a  reservation through a shuttle service.  Although booking the shuttle service was an extra $30, my entire party was able to go together,  and the shuttle picked us up from our cabin and dropped us off after. The dirt road to the hot springs can be very snowy certain months of the year, so the shuttle may be a great option if you did not want to drive yourself. The downside was that our reservation time was only for 1.5 hours since we used the shuttle service. If you are able to make a reservation on their website, it will be for 2 hours. Be sure to bring your own water, and note that clothing is optional after 10:30pm. If you’re looking for more activities to do while in Steamboat Springs, check out my full guide here.

Iron Mountain and Glenwood Hot Springs Resort

Both are located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. However, the Iron Mountain springs are more intimate and located along side the Colorado River for a beautiful view. The Glenwood Hot Springs are very popular for tourist and families! Be aware due to the natural Sulfur compounds hot springs can have an odor and smell like eggs, which is normal for certain resorts.

Hot Sulphur Springs

Located in Granby, Colorado. It’s a perfect spot to stop at if you’re heading to or from a stay at C Lazy U Ranch, RMNP, or after a day of skiing at Winter Park.

Ouray Hot Springs

Located in Ouray, Colorado, which is an hour from Telluride. These springs may look like ‘pools’, but they are nestled in the valley of town allowing beautiful views of snow capped peaks. Orvis is another hot springs location between Ouray and Telluride which is not as busy. This hot spring is clothing optional. Both hot springs above do require an entrance fee. If you are up for staying at a resort near Telluride, Dunton Springs looks incredibly romantic with a guest only hot springs. If you’re looking for more to enjoy in Telluride, check out my full guide.

Pagosa Hot Springs

Pagosa has over 25 different pools to choose from. You can pay an entrance fee, or stay at the resort. It would be a perfect place to go after skiing in Pagosa, where their snowfall is typically record breaking.

There are so many hot springs to choose from when visiting Colorado, but these are my top 6 suggestions if you’re traveling from out of town especially!

Stay Fearless,
